In 2014, Sarah Lopes founded The Safari Collective with the goal in mind to feel more connected to each little detail of our everyday. In May 2016, The Safari Collective expanded from an online store to a retail storefront in Sarah's hometown of New Milford, Connecticut. In March 2023, 'new' Sarah, Sarah Edwards took over ownership of The Safari Collective with the aim of building on the store's stalwart foundations.
In today’s world of constant consumerism, we aim to be a more ethical option and conscious choice. Our products are all handmade by American makers. By learning the story behind the products we invest in, we are participating in smart buying, a practice that supports sustainable and ethical production and values the handmade. Our selection ranges from home decor, kitchenwares, ceramics, food provisions, jewelry, apothecary, paper goods and more.
Thank you for shopping small and buying better. We hope you find something you love here that promotes appreciation for life’s little moments, mindfulness in the products we buy, and curiosity for where they come from.
